Durante muchos años, Rolling Stone fue una de las tres o cuatro más importantes revistas de rock. El Record Guide recoge la calificación de cada disco editado hasta 1981. La puntuación máxima es la de cinco estrellas. Su significado es : “Indispensable : disco que debe ser incluido en cualquier colección”. El listado va por orden alfabético de artistas o grupos :
